PhysioDesigner
A modeling tool for multilevel physiological systems

Jul 2013

Version 1.0 beta5

PhysioDesigner 1.0 beta5

5th July, 2013

Install Note

Mac: Once you mount the disk image file you download, you will find a directory named "PhysioDesigner1.0b5". Please move the directory anyplace you want to put. That's all for installation.

Note 1) PhysioDesigner cannot be launched from the dmg mounted volume because of the lack of write permission of the volume. It is necessary to copy PhysioDesigner1.0b5 directory (which include PhysioDesigner.app, Morphology.app etc) somewhere on your local file system such as /Applications.

Note 2) If launch process fails, please try to remove $Users/.physiodesigner directory where some configuration related to PhysioDesigner are stored. By removing this file, configurations are reset to the default.

Note 3) Directory structure in PhysioDesigner1.0b5 is crucial for execution of PhysioDesigner.app and other apps. For example, all apps and server directly must be in the same directly.

Note 4) To install PhysioDesigner into Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8), users need to change the system preferences so that any applications (from other than Mac App Store) can be installed. Check System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. "Allow applications downloaded from Anywhere".

Win: Please execute the installer by double clicking it. It installs a couple of necessary libraries such as Python, etc.

Note 1) On Windows XP with full windows update, Python 2.7 can cause problem, consequently PhysioDesigner cannot work, because PhysioDesigner depends on Python. So far we could not solve this issue. But if Python can work properly, PhysioDesigner itself should run OK.

Release Notes

On PhysioDesigner
In the Physical Quantity Table, initial values are shown and editable as well as their definition
So far in-ports were coloured by red, and out-ports by blue. This convention was changed.
From this version, if an in-port or out-port is assigned to a physical-quantity, then it is colored by blue. Otherwise it is red. This information is helpful for debugging.
At the physical quantity table at the bottom of the main window, value of static-parameters are now editable.
At the physical quantity dialog, now it is possible to search physical quantities by their name.
Edge List Dialog and Physical Quantity List Dialog were enriched with the search function.
Several bugs were fixed.

On ImageViewer
Brain dipole mapping function is implemented in ImageViewer.
Dipole positions and orientations can be set to arbitrarily positions from "Locate Dipoles" dialog and also by mouse operation. Add or delete the dipoles can be done easily. Naming and grouping the dipoles can be done. Setting information can be saved to or loaded from xml or text format file. Finally, ImageViewer generates modules corresponding to the dipoles.
Arbitrary markers can be set on a medical image, which can be saved in xml and text formats. Moreover modules corresponding to those markers are created so that users can define additional properties on the markers.
Coordinate axes are added to 2D and 3D image planes, 3D axes can follows 3D scene's rotation.
Background color can be selected in the preference window.
